Unfortunately, I have to tell you that due to Simon’s new business commitments, as of today, all future gigs for ‘The Proposition’ have been cancelled and we will no longer be working together as a band.
It wasn't an easy decision to make and we really appreciate all the support you've given us over the past few years. We've had some fantastic gigs and couldn't have done it without you!
We’ll keep this page open for the foreseeable future, and if you stay ‘liking’ us on Facebook and signing up to our mailing list, we can keep you informed of any new endeavours.
Hope to see ya down the road…

High Trapeze in the parlour: a taste of the house concert sound
We've played some tremendous gigs in the past year, on big stages at home and abroad, and to big audiences indoors and out, in clubs, at festivals, in bars, in theatres, and in a handful of house concerts in the the UK and USA.
The unamplified house concerts have a special quality all of their own. They're intimate and memorable. Nothing beats playing and singing up close and personal, close enough for the us all, band and audience alike, to really engage.
There's no hiding. It's a little terrifying, but we've loved the experience and are looking forward to doing more this year.
So if you're a house concert organiser, or even if you've never done it before but like the idea of original music in your home for your friends and family, then please do contact us. We'd love to play for you.
Here's just a little taste of the 'parlour' sound. This is High Trapeze, recorded in front of an open fire on a very chilly winter's afternoon in Norfolk. You can hear the studio version on our album King Snake, Devil Shake, but we hope you enjoy this live acoustic version too.

Back at work in the song-workshop
They seemed to like our English take on Americana at every venue, and there was much talk of returning soon. We hope so.
Once back we dived into a full-length Friday night show at our home stamping ground of The Fat Cat Brewery Tap in Norwich, where we're always sure of a great crowd and a warm welcome.
We're now busy writing new songs which will doubtless appear on our next album and possibly on an EP before that.
There are a couple of upcoming gigs to tell you about:
On Sunday 17th March we play the Sunday Showcase, at The Red Lion, 117 High Road, Needham, Norfolk, IP20 9LG. Details via the link. Timings TBC.
And on Friday 17th May we are back at the lovely Fat Cat Brewery Tap, Lawson Road, Norwich, NR3. That'll be from 8.30pm. Another wild Friday night at the Tap.
We will play you some of our new songs when we see ya!
More news soon about UK house concerts, arts venue gigs and more.

New Year ready to blow!

| The Proposition performing at the Freight & Salvage Coffee House, San Francisco, December 2012 |
We have had a fabulous year in 2012, which has seen the launch of our album, a number of trips to play in London, a busy festival season and was wrapped up by 3 shows in San Francisco.
All of this would've meant nothing to us, if it wasn't for the fact it was a joyride with so many friends, old and new. Thank you all for making this so much fun and giving us an excuse to get up and do what we do.

Just Like Summer Lightning
It’s been the busiest and most exciting summer yet for The Proposition and the band wants to thank
everyone who has supported them along the way.
The album King Snake, Devil Shake was released in March and was fantastically well received by the folk, roots and Americana media.

American Roots UK said: “a pretty much unique sound... somewhere between the Pogues and the
Band.”
Blues Matters said: “Originality, flair... every track is thought-provoking, foot-stomping, mouthlicking good.”
Folk & Roots said: “Thrilling, rough-hewn Americana with an authentic rolling energy that leaves you wanting more.”
And that’s just a small sample! These and more reviews can be seen at length on the Testimonies page.
Filled with confidence from the reception given to King Snake, Devil Shake the band spent the spring and summer gigging around the UK, at folk and acoustic venues and events, including PlayFest, FolkEast, Harlequin Fayre, LockStock, Grapevine, not to mention playing the main stage at Halesworth Gig In The Park.
A highlight of July was headlining London’s legendary Troubadour Club on a Friday night, with a hugely enthusiastic (dancing, singing and hollering) crowd.
With many more gigs in East Anglia throughout the autumn (see Live & Kicking page for details) The Proposition then head off for their second visit to San Francisco, California in December. Having played their first ever show as The Proposition at a corporate gig in SF three years ago, the band has been invited back to repeat the event, and is planning to fit in some club gigs in the Bay area too.
